City Scoop: Brimming Birmingham

As you probably already know, Birmingham is a huge city in England's West Midlands. Home to four universities, the Spaghetti Junction, the Bullring Shopping Centre, the German Market at Christmas time, and many famous people you might know who are linked to city, these include Richard Hammond, Karren Brady, ELO, The Streets Black Sabbath and many more!

Many people think of the accent when talking about Birmingham, but there's so much more! As the dark nights dawn on us, the bright lights of the city come out to play! Birmingham the city of diversity, is great for Family Fun, couples who like to wine and dine, or a day spent making memories with friends! Why not incentivise a trip to the land of Brum? People love a city break and we've came up with a list of things you can organise for them to do:

German Market
Every Winter Birmingham hosts a German Market. It's the largest outdoor market in the country, and proudly the biggest outside of Germany and Austria. Sample some sizzling bratwursts, sup on German Steins or equally as enjoyable a warm cider and baileys hot chocolate will do! Shop around the stalls and have fun on the ice rink and big wheel. This will ensure you get into the Christmas spirit!

Football Stadiums
William McGregor was a businessman in Birmingham and he was the one who founded the Football League! He became involved with Aston Villa football club, moving up in the ranks from the board of directors to chairman. Today you can have tours round Birmingham City and Aston Villa football grounds. Birmingham was the first to be named at the National City of Sport by the Sports Council.

Wine & Dine
In this cosmopolitan city, there are plenty of quirky and fun places you can wine and dine! As well as your plush Michelin Star restaurants and food chains, there are some hidden gems in and around Birmingham that you mustn't miss out on! Places like Dirty Martini, The Cosy Club, The Jekyll And Hyde, and Digbeth Dining Club are all popular amongst locals but aren't well known amongst visitors – but you're in for a treat with their tasty tipple and fabulous food!

NEC
The NEC, The National Exhibition Centre, is an exhibition centre located in Birmingham, close to the airport and International railway station which makes it the perfect and one of the most convenient venues in the UK. The NEC site is home to the Genting Arena which is the heart of live music, comedy and entertainment in the West Midlands. There are bars, restaurants, and resorts world where you can enjoy a spa, shopping, casino or cinema.

Star City
Star City is an entertainment complex with 30 cinema screens, six of which are devoted to Asian films. It also boasts a huge casino, arcade, bowling alley, mini golf and many restaurants!

Theatre
Don't forget about the Hippodrome, which is the busiest theatre in the UK outside of London. It showcases all sorts from musicals, dance and comedy.
